This project involved the comprehensive fitout of Levels 3 and 4 at 200 Victoria Street, establishing an expanded vertical campus for Trinity College's Foundation Studies Program. The design unifies four levels within the building, creating a cohesive identity that builds upon the practice's earlier work on Levels 5 and 6. The project provides a diversity of specialist teaching spaces, student commons areas, and staff facilities, with formal teaching spaces arranged around the perimeter of the floor plate, supported by an inner ring of circulation and gathering areas.
Serving as the new "front door" to the school, level 3 features a reception and resource centre for students and visitors, 15 tutorial rooms, a student lounge, a makers’ space and the college's Wellbeing Centre. Level 4 is dedicated to specialised teaching with a new 77-seat lecture theatre, a 56-seat multipurpose seminar space and a dedicated drama studio.
A core design strategy was to encourage a fluid relationship between formal and informal learning. A variety of breakout spaces including lounges, group study areas, and individual focus pods are positioned adjacent to tutorial rooms, allowing structured classes to spill out and use these zones for collaborative work.
