  • Osbourne House occupies a prominent place opposite the Carlton Gardens in Fitzroy. Once a former mansion, it was progressively added to and converted to rooming house accommodation over several decades. By the late 1970’s the building was threatened with redevelopment and the loss of over 100 bedrooms. After a concerted community campaign Osbourne House was bought by the Ministry of Housing to be retained as a low income accommodation.
