Trinity College is one of the foundation residential colleges at the University of Melbourne with the first buildings being occupied in 1872. The College has an eclectic collection of fine nineteenth and twentieth century buildings set within a beautiful landscape garden facing Royal Parade. The early master plans for the College were visionary and ambitious but few plans came to fruition. The Colleges build rarely as they are essentially philanthropic organisations relying on the good will and generosity of its Alumni. The 2000 master plan envisaged a new building and refurbishment program spanning over several years. The College planned new and improved residential accommodation, dining hall, education facilities and student focused spaces. The master plan has been reviewed on a regular basis in an ongoing process of consultation within the College community.
